The journey of wayfinding
While our destination or our next stop on the journey is truly up to you to decide, often the end goal isn’t always clear at first. As a wellbeing guide and coach, my role is helping you clarify, define, and understand the direction you what to go in or what part of your life you want to focus on.
Depending on where you are at in this process, we may spend many of our first sessions focused on building your self-awareness, giving attention & care to your concerns or difficulties, and then gradually developing clearer goals & plans together.
A mindset for the journey
Curiosity
As you begin to learn more about yourself, discover & uncover new awareness, and even face those deep longings and questions about life, remember to stay curious. Curiosity is learning to ask a few more questions before making a judgement about a thought, feeling, or action. It is leaning in to the discomfort or mystery, not moving too quickly to action.
Commitment
Change, growth, and healing will not happen if you are not committed to the process. It may get harder before it gets better. Actually, often that is the case. Just like an athlete trains for competition or a musician practices for a performance, there is much hard work and dedication that goes into the process. There are mistakes, trials, experiments, and failures that come in the journey, and without commitment, we often just give up.
Capacity
You have a certain emotional, mental, and physical capacity. We all do & our capacities are all different. Capacity is how much we can hold, handle, & cope with. This journey is about discovering what your capacity is and accepting where you are at. Sometimes growth looks like honoring our capacity & slowing down because we've been trying to push our capacity past its limits. Other times, it looks like growing and stretching our capacity slow & steady. While commitment is important, it must honor & acknowledge our capacity. In a "try harder" culture, it means to try a bit softer.
Collaboration
This journey is about us working together toward your hopes, dreams, and goals. I commit to provide a safe space for you to process and work through this journey, and you commit to showing up and engaging with the process. This is a side-by-side journey, with you in the driver's seat and me helping you navigate your way. Additionally, it is about finding those other places of collaboration in your life, whether it be in your family, friends, or community. We were not created to go on this journey alone!
Courage
Change and growth can be scary and hard. It often does not feel good to truly face and work through the parts of our life that we do not like. Courage is being honest about where you are at, being kind & curious in that place AND about being ready and willing to do whatever it takes to move toward where you want to be. And sometimes courage is admitting "I am not ready to change."
